Welcome back to another fantastic year of dyslexia therapy at Cottonwood Creek Elementary!! I am thrilled to be back as your dyslexia therapist and am thrilled to welcome Ms. Leslie Helwig to our team!
This is my sixth year in the Coppell Independent School District.
I attended the Dyslexia Therapist Certification Program at Southern Methodist University, where I also received my Masters of Elementary Education in Reading and Writing. In years past I have worked with many dyslexic learners in various programs, but love being here full-time in Coppell ISD. I grew up in Tampa, FL and graduated from the University of Florida, where I avidly cheered on the Florida Gators in all sports!

Leslie Helwig, Dyslexia Specialist
As we kick off the 2020-2021 school year, I will be serving learners at both Cottonwood Creek Elementary and Valley Ranch Elementary through MLI (Multisensory Language Instruction). This year marks my 20th year in education! I graduated from The University of North Texas in May of 2000, with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, specializing in Early Childhood and Communications. I am THRILLED to embark upon a brand new role in Coppell ISD this year working at both Cottonwood Creek Elementary and Valley Ranch Elementary as your child's Dyslexia Specialist. It is with an extremely full and grateful heart that I was selected to pursue Scottish Rite's Advanced Take Flight training through a partnership with Frisco ISD as one of the members of the 2020-2021 Cohort in Coppell ISD. Being an educator in the community of Coppell over the many years that I have taught, one of my PROUDEST moments is on graduation day every year when I get to cheer on each of my students as they graduate from CHS and New Tech! With tears in my eyes, and loud 'WooHoo's', my teacher heart explodes with pride on this big, very special day for them!
